where is the love for the singer/songwriter/acoustic guitarist?

i mean, these guys did some amazing work, how come we cannot or will not admit their contributions to the music world? i saw the other day someone claim that some heavy metal cover of james taylor's fire and rain was better than the original...sorry, there's just no way you can cover a song about a man's life and have it be better than the original, and adding noise does not improve it

so why can't we talk about the contributions of a james taylor, jim croce, or neil diamond to the music scene? why can't we admit that american pie is one of the greatest songs ever written in spite of the folk rock sort of sound? why are these things seemingly so tough to admit?

Consider your audience.... lots of younger people here, and generally speaking, young people want fast, loud, exciting, raging rock and roll.

Doesn't mean there are still TONS of us around who love singer/ songwriter/ acoustic guitar music. We're here, we're just not here in the numbers that the younger people are.

My kids may gripe about me playing my music, but I'm pretty sure it's soaking into their little psyches to some degree and they'll appreciate it some day. Or not. ;-)

And.... not to sell short all the people who do love this mellower sound ~ young and old (and that's not to say we don't love the raging stuff, too) ~ I've got a bunch of younger contacts here who love ALL music ~ not just the loud stuff.

Question for acoustic guitarists?

hey guys. i was wondering, how much does an acoustic guitar cost. i want to learn how to play one, but i have to get one first. is there anyone who knows where i can get a guitar for a cheap price, but still it works alright? it doesn't have to be that cheap. im saving up my money, but the economy is bad, so it might take a while if i find one i like but really expensive. it doesn't have to be fancy. just a wooden guitar. i don't need a place to find lessons. im going to ask my friend if he can teach me, but thanks anyway. so if any of you can give me some tips too, that would be great. thanks

there are tons of brands you want to consider and right now that doesnt matter if your a begginer you can still find a nice guitar for a nice price from well known brands. if you have never played before i would recommned a value pack.. they are cheaper and they come with everything you will need so you dont forget to not buy somthing... here are my recommendations : I HOPE I HELPED GOOD LUCK
