Good acoustic guitar?

Jenny

I want a good sound, good enough to play small gigs (like, at school or something)...
I have had the same 3/4 size since I was seven, now, half my life later, I want something better than that thing which cost about 30 quid.

Budget: ABSOLUTE maximum £200 (and I'm being as generous as I can)

I know the best way is to try them out, so I will be visiting music shops in summer when studies are over, but I just want brand names, possibly exact models so i can ask at the shop if they have that particular one to try...

It will be mainly just for strumming chords....

Anyway, just brand names will do (that was such a rambling question, sorry!)

Answer
Brands and models really don't mean a lot mate. I have played £75 guitars that rocked and on the other hand have played £1000 guitars that didn't impress me. Don't be a fool for "headstock envy".
Just stay away from the sort of brands you'd see at Agros, ASDA, etc. Those tend to be toys that look like guitars.

I would check out the music stores near you. Play every guitar that they have that is under £200. Play the used ones as well. £200 could easily buy you a guitar that was £400-£500 new. When you have found the best guitar, you will know it by the way it feels in your hands and the way it sounds to your ears.

I fail to understand what Mikey hopes to accomplish by recommending £2000+ guitars to you when you clearly state you can afford £200 at the most. Yes, they are great guitars, but they are out of your reach, as they are of most askers on yahoo answers. Sure Mikey, I'd love to have a Michael Dunn Stardust, but I need to eat, pay the bills and put gas in my truck. So, my main acoustic is a Gitane GJ-10. It's a lot cheaper, but plays like a dream and I'm always getting compliments on it's tone.

Guitar help?!?!?!?!!!?

Sophie

i want to use the intro off of this- http://www.911tabs.com/link/?5971327 and the chords off of this- http://www.yourchords.com/186709/Rise-Against/Hero-Of-War-ver-5-Chords/ for the same song and make it work together... is that possible?? even slightly at all because I have trouble with G#m and C#m and B cause this is basically my first time ever playing guitar and I can play it all perfect minus those chords

Answer
Hello there,

Second question in the past day or so about G#m, C#m and B. Those are tough chords for beginners. I know the B chord was a tough one for me.

Not sure how that intro will sound with your sound. I found a video about how to play the intro to Hero of War. It does not seem too tough, even for beginners. Unless you really prefer the other introduction, you might try listening to the video. Maybe that will help you learn the intro to your song.

Being a beginner, you are having trouble forming barre chords, so you look for alternate ways to play the chord or other chords that sound similar. We probably all did that in the beginning. I certainly did. Tried everything to avoid learning barre chords. The problem was that the F chord was used in many songs I wanted to learn and I could not find a substitute. That forced me to learn barre chords. It is okay to try substitutes. We play for fun and there are no rules that we absolutely must follow or someone comes to take away our guitar. Just the same, do spend some time practicing barre chords each time you practice. You will have to learn them eventually. Here are some videos that may help. You really do need to learn how to do them to progress.

Here is a video at the Gibson site.

http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/Lessons/InstrumentLessons/Introduction%20To%20Barre%20Chords/

Here is another video at Youtube. I like this one for beginners.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvVj1TZ4r_4

Let me give you another link. This one is a chord chart. Down load the PDF file to your computer. Then you can look through it for various ways to play a chord.

http://www.guitarnotes.com/guitar/notes2/ultimate11.shtml

I can give you this suggestion for the B chord, you can substitute a B5 chord or a B power chord.

B Power chord played

Strings E A D G B E
Frets X 2 4

B5 chord played

Strings E A D G B E
Frets X 2 4 4

As for the F#m, and others, Barre chords are probably the easiest way to play those. I have some links to good videos about learning to play barre chords.

Later,

Hello again,

There is a lot of good instructional materials available on the internet. Since you are a beginner. let me give you some suggested links to instructional materials.

Here is a link to a series of video lessons. These may help you get the basics down better. This guy has a series of 12 video lessons at Youtube. He covers the basics pretty well. You can find the other lessons in the related videos section there. He uses an electric guitar in the lessons, but most of the material translates very well to the acoustic.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxhxIV0I5T8&feature=related

Just in case you have not already learned how to read tabs, here is a link to an article that explains them.

http://www.howtotuneaguitar.org/lessons/the-basics/how-to-read-guitar-tab/

You can also use the search feature at Youtube to find lessons for particular songs. Search the song name and the words how to play or the word lesson. There are a lot of good instructional videos available on Youtube.

any acoustic guitar players.....plzzz help,i need tips,im starting from scratch lol?

SNOWFLAKE

i have always wanted to play guitar, and i just now got my first one. the problem is i know absolutely nothing about playing guitar and reading the music,or even knowing all the proper terms for the parts of the guitar. i can not afford to go take lessons. do you have any advice to give me on where i need to start to learn to play? any learn how cds or books or even websites that break it down easily for a beginner?? i saw a few websites claiming to be free then when you sign up it wants you to pay. i watched some videos on youtube but they go a little fast for me right now. any serious help would be appreciated. thanks

Answer
Hello there,

There is a lot of useful information online. Yes, there are a lot of come on sites that may big offers of free lessons when try to get you to buy their stuff. Here are some of the instructional materials that I like.

Tabs. You should learn to read tabs. Tabs is a shorthand method of writing guitar music. It is easy to use and easy to learn. Tabs are widely used these days, so you really should learn to read tabs.

http://www.howtotuneaguitar.org/lessons/the-basics/how-to-read-guitar-tab/

Chord book. Back in my day, we had to buy a chord book, now you can get one free online. Here is a link to a chord chart in a PDF file. Down load it to your computer. It is handy to look up how to play any chord.

http://www.guitarnotes.com/guitar/notes2/ultimate11.shtml

Video lessons. Someone suggest Justin. He is good and like his lessons. Here is another that I recommend. This guy has a series of 12 video lessons now available at Youtube. You don't need to go to his website. Disregard his comments about going to his website and signing up so he can send you the lessons. That was from back before they were put on Youtube. You used to have to go sign up and he would email the lessons to you. Now you can see them at Youtube without the hassle of him mailing them to you. He covers the basics very well. He uses an electric guitar in the lessons but most of the material translates very well to the acoustic. These lessons are target at absolute beginners.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxhxIV0I5T8&feature=related

When you are ready to tackle some songs, do a Google search of the name of the song and the word tabs. That will give you the sites that have the tabs to that song. Places like Ultimate Guitar Tabs, Ttabs, 911 tabs and the like. Then go to Youtube and do a search there using the song name and the words how to play or the word lesson. You will find a lot of good instructional videos there at Youtube.

best kind of acoustic guitar to buy?

Your Mom

i really want to buy an acoustic guitar. ive never played, i don't know how to. so what would be a good guitar for beginners? i want something that isn't toooo expensive, and something just to learn and get the hang of on. im probably gonna teach myself, i don't know yet. thanks!

Answer
Best to take someone with you who is already into guitar playing when looking for a guitar. And at a music store, without having to shop and buy something off the Internet that you can't try out physically.

Brands to look for that are good makers and priced right: Alvarez; Dean; Epiphone; Ibanez; Johnson; Jasmine (Takamine); Saegull; Washburn; and Yamaha.

Expect to find prices from: $150-$500. Depends upon the top material and other cosmetics.

Look for those with a solid top if all possible, as this feature is best for the sound volume and real resonance of any guitar made. You will discover that is it worth the added expense in the long run to enjoy its tonal quality. But several 'veneer' tops can pass its worth if it is just ot get you started into playing.

The important thing is the neck being the most comfortable for you.

Think of as well, a classical guitar as they have the nylon strings which may be even more comfortable for your fingertips, but have thicker necks and wider fingerboards. These are great to start out for the simple fact that they will force such exercise to really prepare your hand and grip to play most anything else in the future.

ok so im buying an Acoustic-Electric guitar?

Love_Is_Th

any advice? ive never bought a guitar before so im new at this. thanks for any help =]

Answer
if ur new at this.
i encourage you not that buy that.
first buy a pure acoustic guitar for 100$.
play around with it. take lessons. see
if you like it.
then in a year.. buy the acoustic-electric one.
trust me. do not buy something expensive... at first IF you've never had a guitar before.

I have a Ventura Bruno V-25 Acoustic Guitar?

senatorjoh

I've looked all over the web for any information on this guitar. My dad left it for me when he passed away. I can't find anything of use. I want to date the guitar, and maybe get an idea for how common or rare it is. The Serial number is 73977. I will post pictures if need be.
Here are some pictures

http://tinypic.com/r/1zela4z/7

http://i55.tinypic.com/35hlf5v.jpg

Answer
Ventura was a brand name used for Japanese guitars imported by the C. Bruno company of New York. It's not clear who the actual Japanese maker was, and different makers may have been used at different times, for different models. However, many clues point to your Ventura, which incidentally is a Martin Copy, having been made by Takamine Guitars, who have since become well known for their quality. Look in the body from the sound hole, and look towards the neck. Is there a "Takamine Guitars" logo branded into the wood?

Regardless of who actually manufactured this 1970's gem, the V-25 is a very good sounding and playing dreadnought. Despite the lack of history recorded on Ventura guitars, this model continually will fetch 2-3 hundred dollars in very good condition. The actual price you could get would probably be on the lower end, as this guitar was well enjoyed over the years. I, myself, tend to prefer guitars that have character, like yours, but collectors tend to look for more minty specimens. There was no known records kept by the successors to C. Bruno, so accurate dating of this guitar is impossible. The closest I can tell you is this was a popular offering in the mid 70's C. Bruno catalogs, so obviously it dates from this time. If you know any of your dad's friends who knew him in the mid 70's, might help you to more closely date the guitar by when he bought it. One theory is that this is the 977th V-25 built in 1973, but there is no official data on serial numbers.

Ventura/Bruno guitars of this era are not super common. They are increasingly sought after, due to the good quality of the C. Bruno era Ventura's. This guitar is truly a treasure. If you don't already know how to play, you might consider learning, so that you can enjoy it as much as your dad seemingly did.

What is the best Acoustic guitar for beginners? ?

dreaming_w

Well I played a little over the summer and I had a lot of fun. I'd like it to be under 500$. Over the summer the guitar I played on had some plastic strings. But I think I'd like to try medal strings.
Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Firstly, you need to know how to choose a good guitar.

When you are new to playing the guitar, it is only natural to be apprehensive about which guitar should you purchase and how much you should pay for it. Yes, there are many factors to consider when you are choosing a the good beginner's guitar. Here are some tips you should keep in mind when choosing a guitar to buy.
Tips for buying Guitar

Buying the right guitar may not be an easy choice for you. It can be tiring, frustrating and sometimes you will just feel like buying the next guitar you see just so that you can stop looking for one. If you easily frustrated, you may feel like giving up the idea of learning how to play the guitar altogether.

Everyone will have different criteria when to buy the perfect guitar. However, you may not always be able to satisfy all of them at once. Just have a little patience and look around as much as you can so that will not regret later that you have bought a wrong guitar. Don't just buy the first guitar you see, visit as many music and guitar shops as you can just to get an idea of what is on offer.

You probably will have friends who have been playing the guitar for a while, so go to them and ask them for advice and tips on how to choose a guitar for a beginner like you. Someone who has been playing the guitar for sometime will be able to show you where to choose the best guitars for the best price.

Beginners are often offered package deals in most guitar stores. These deals often give you a free guitar strap, case, tuner and even free guitar lessons. This would be a good choice for a beginner because everything you need to learn how to play the guitar is provided for. If you want to be a good guitarist, buying a bad guitar would not only shortchange you but it might also disillusion you and dampening your enthusiasm in learning how to play the guitar. So it is always better to buy your guitar from reputed companies such as Yamaha, Ibanez, Fender, Gibson, Ovation, Martin, and Taylor.

You need not be embarrassed to try out and play the guitar at the shop since after all, you are paying for the guitar. Do check for sloppy gluing and also make sure that the guitar has a good solid top. Play the guitar as loudly as you want to because this is the best way of hearing the tonal quality of the music instrument. Play on every fret on the guitar neck to ensure there are no fret buzzes. This is something many aspiring new guitarists do not know. Never pay list price for a guitar because this is usually inflated, so do some hard bargaining with the sales staff.

If buying a brand new guitar is out of your budget, you may wish to consider getting a good quality second hand guitar. This is also an option especially if you are not sure if this is just a passing fad for you or whether you will stick playing the guitar for a long time to come. You could ask the music shops about getting good second hand guitars or you could look up classified ads, online ads and bulletin boards in the internet. Choose your guitar wisely.

Great Acoustic Guitars For Under $1000?

Steven B

I am 16 years old and have been playin guitar for 2 and a half years. Most people that have played only 2 and a half years would be happy with my current guitar (Taylor Big Baby) but i have really gotten too good for it. I do not want to sound cocky but you naturally get that good when you play 4+ hours a day on most days. The guitar I am looking for is around $1000 or less and would be acoustic. I really want the best buy for my money because I will be using this guitar to record with. Some guitars I have looked at was the Taylor 714ce, the taylor 410ce and some other high quality guitars, however they are all too expensive around $1500. Thanks for your help and any suggestions are appreciated!
Well i just quit my lessons because the teacher had nothing left to teach me. In high school I took a music theory class that was treated as a college level class. I am really into it and already write music/ compositions and jam with other people. I started out playing like 7 hours a day and now i have been playing around 4 or 5. It is hard to judge because even when i am at the computer I am playing it. Also, I have a fender strat. american that cost a little over 1000. It is a 2007 highway series.

Answer
You don't have to spend $1,000 to have a great sounding acoustic guitar. But if you can afford that then get a Gibson - they sound amazing. If this is your one and only guitar, though, I would go with an acoustic-electric - ESPECIALLY if you want to record. Ibanez and Fender make some really nice ones and they're less expensive.

I have a Gibson Gospel AV 100th Anniversary Edition (acoustic/electric). Cost me about $1,500 about 14 years ago but worth every penny. I also have a Ibanez Artcore archtop. Sounds great recorded. Also a Fender Strat though I really prefer the hollow or semi-hollow electrics.

Go to your local Guitar Center or other music store and play a few. If you want to save some money order through http://www.musiciansfriend.com $1,000 sounds like a lot to be spending having only played for two years. So really be sure you're committed to this. Are you taking lessons?

edit: you took lessons for two years "and the teacher has nothing left to teach you"? Then get a new teacher. I'm sure you have a LOT more to learn. Attitude will get you NOWHERE - learning to play WILL.

What is a good acoustic-electric guitar brand under $1000?

fc77

I'm an intermediate guitar player who is used to playing electric. I want to get an acoustic/electric guitar now but don't really know about the brands well. I was at guitar center today and checked out few brands like:Taylor, Martin, Takamine, Ovation and of course Fender. Please tell me which of these are the best acoustic-electric guitars for under $1000. If you know any other brand that has great quality, please let me know too. It has to be A-E!! Thanks
OK maybe under $700 is preferable... but will definitely spend up to $1000 if it's THE guitar.

Answer
The guitar I use is a Cordoba Gk Studio. The tone is bright and snappy. When plugged in the Fishman Pickup system gives it a beautiful and natural tone when amplified. It'll run you about $600 and comes with nylon strings.

What are some extremely easy songs to play on acoustic guitar?

Kristen H

I am a beginner and would love to play a real, like music-y song [instead of yankee doodle & ode to joy]. I really enjoy country music [Taylor Swift to be precise] and would love to find a song I'd be able to play. Any suggestions?

Answer
Hello there,

I understand where you are coming from, we all had to learn sometime. Seems like a better way to learn would be to learn a solid understanding of the basics. Then pick out the songs you like and tackle those. What you learned studying the basics will take you a long way towards mastering most songs. I never liked the idea of learning a song I did not like just because it was easy. Sort of ran against my sense of self esteem. I know, you have to start with something and playing songs seems like a good way to learn. Actually it is a good way to practice what you are learning, but not to learn alone. If you follow me.

Take a look at this series of video lessons at Youtube. This guy has a series of 12 lessons. He is a good teacher, enjoyable to watch (even for an old guy) and he does a good job of covering the basics. He uses an electric guitar, but most of this information transfers well to the acoustic. Since you have an interest in country, pay special attention to the parts about finger picking. That is an important technique in country music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxhxIV0I5T8&feature=related
After you have worked your way through some of those lessons, try tackling some of the songs you actually like and want to play. It may take a while to master them, so be patient. But by following this approach you will become a better guitarist faster than just by learning a few easy songs.

When you are ready to tackle some of songs you like, google the name of the song and the word tab. You will see who have has the tabs available online for that song. Places like 911 tabs, Ultimate Tabs, Tab Crawler and the like can provide you with a great many tabs.

Also, since you mention Taylor Swift, try this link.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWWhXxK-By0&feature=PlayList&p=F9DC61C1C400FF13&index=0

While you are at Youtube search Taylor Swift guitar lesson and you will bring up quite a few other song lessons you may be interested in.

What are some good acoustic guitar songs to play and be able to sing?

runner99

I'm starting to play acoustic guitar more and more and was trying to think of good songs to cover. It doesnt really matter how hard it is, ill learn it either way. I prefer it be a more modern song though, it could be a funny song to do ( i've wrote a cover to lady gaga's just dance) so whatever works.

I also dont have the wide of a singing voice. something simple in the singing range would be very helpful.
Also would like it to be a song that many people would know. I play show's at Starbucks and when people really know the song it makes it better..

Answer
Some nice acoustic songs that I like to play are:

Hotel Yorba - The White Stripes
We're Going To Be Friends - The White Stripes
The Rose March - The Smashing Pumpkins (you need a capo though)
Disarm - The Smashing Pumpkins
Superman's Dead - Our Lady Peace
Wonderwall - Oasis
Mr. Tambourine Man - Bob Dylan
The Time's Are-A-Changin' - Bob Dylan
Hurt - Johnny Cash
Kissing Families - Silversun Pickups

Those are just some suggestions. Look into The Smashing Pumpkins and The White Stripes, both have some really nice acoustic songs. Whatever floats your boat though really :)

Acoustic guitar strap locks for a martin button?

SaintZ

Hi, I recently purchased a new martin DC-16GTE and would like to protect my investment with some strap locks. I have the problem that I don't know which ones would fit the stock buttons. Seeing as its and acoustic, I would like to avoid having to drill holes to replace the old ones. I need just something run of the mill that would fit on my leather strap.

p.s. yes I have seen the planet waves nylon straps with the plastic lock and think they look pretty rubbish.

Answer
See if I know exactly what you are talking aout.

Martin guitar comes with a strap lock uninstalled. You could find it in the guitar case. This is almost the only that tells whether the guitar is new or used. Even the strap lock itself is too large for the bottom hole. Don't hammer it in, you need to enlarge the hole little by little to fit it in. If you hammer it in, you could crack the guitar and damage is not part of the warranty.

There is no perfect way to secure the other end of your guitar strap. You can tie it on the guitar nut with nylon or leather string. Whatever it is, it rubs against the nut and creates a mark, no matter how slight over time. If you secure the strap on the guitar neck, you'd have to drill a hole to install the strap lock. If you play the guitar sitting down without a strap, you'd be in the danger of the guitar slipping off from your lap. If you don'tlay the guitar just letting it collect dust, don't forget, musical instrument devolops it's beautiful tunes from being played. You can tell the different between 2 5-year old guitars, one sounds so crappy without being played and the one sound so beautiful for being played all the time. This is actually the where the value of the instrument is developed.

Finally, I am not discouraging. Martin guitars do appreciate in value, in Vintage series, signature series. NOT DC-16GTE.

Guitar strap for acoustic guitar?

orbit

My guitar is a yamaha FG700S, but I was trying to buy a strap for it and I noticed it doesnt have a little ball, or something near the top of the body for the other side of the strap to go on. It only has something at the bottom of the body to put the strap on but not the top. Are there special straps for this kind of setup or am I out of luck?

Answer
You have three choices:

1. Get a strap button like this one: http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Martin-Guitar-Strap-Button?sku=420127

It goes under the strings on the headstock and has a strap button to attach the strap to.

2. Have a new strap button installed on the heel of the neck on the treble side. It's quick and inexpensive.

3. Get leather lace or some similar strong lace and put that under the strings and around the headstock and attach it to the end of the guitar strap.

The first two choices are best, in my opinion.

That's very subjective, but I'll give you a link to a few that are very popular in that price range. I have owned a couple Blueridge guitars and they are pretty sweet for the money. They will be harder to resell than a Yamaha or something though since less folks know about them.

whats a really good acoustic electric guitar under $600?

Q. I'm looking for a new guitar and my mom won't buy me one over like $700. I really love Taylors and Gibsons. They have the greatest sweetest tone. But I know they're more of high ended guitars. I played a Taylor 110C acoustic electric guitar at the guitar center about a week ago, and absolutely LOVED it. The action was amazing and the tone was great. It was beautiful. And it was only for $650, which I was suprised to hear because of the amazing sound. Do you guys think this is a good guitar, or should I keep looking, maybe at another brand?

Answer
A Taylor 110ce (the c is for cutaway and the e is for electric) is a great guitar for $650. Was that a used one because normally they're closer to $800. If it was actually a 110C then it isn't an acoustic electric and $650 was probably the right price, but I'm not even sure they make a 110C. If it was a 110E then it has the electronics without the cutaway and I've actually seen them for $649. If you're just learning to play though and don't want to spend $650, then just get a Taylor 110 for about $500. You don't really need the cutaway unless you're playing up above the 14th fret, which most acoustic guitarists don't really need to do. You don't need the electronics either unless you play well enough that you'd actually want to amplify it without people plugging their ears. You might also try out some Yamaha and Takamine guitars in the $500 - $600 range if that's what you want to spend and you really want an acoustic electric. They have some nice guitars in that range but your really need to play them and see how they feel and sound. You don't touch a Gibson at $600, but I think they're overpriced because of the Gibson name (they do sound nice though). Martin has some decent guitars at around $600-$700 too that you might want to try. They have a different sound and feel than Taylors but some people like them better (I prefer Taylors myself).

Oh, forgot to mention, you might also like the 114ce, which is the grand auditorium body style, better than the 110, which is a dreadnought. Unfortunately, they don't make a 114 without the cutaway and electronics and they're about $850.

If you buy from Guitar Center, wait until they have one of those 15% off any single item sales. Get on their mailing list and wait for a sale.

If you can find a store that sells them, Walden guitars are a great guitar for the money too. There's a store near me that sells them. They low end laminates are nothing special, but they make some nice all wood guitars with Fishman electronics that are under $500 and are very nice.

While buying an acoustic guitar online, it is always advisable to do research on the types of guitars available on the various websites. Nowadays, buying guitars on line can be deceiving since one does not see them, touch or even test their microphonics. How do you plug an acoustic guitar into an amp?

yello

Do you need a certain kind of amp?
Do you need a certain kind of guitar?
Two things:
1) I know you need an acoustic guitar pickup(s).
2) If you don't need a certain kind of guitar, where do you plug-in the cable?

Answer
For my acoustic guitar I use a pickup that slides in and fits snuggly in the cutout of the guitar. A cord comes out from the pickup and has a standard 1/4" jack plug on the end that plugs into my amp. When I don't want to use the amp I can just take the pickup out of the guitar. I play through a few different amps. There are some amps designed specifically for acoustic guitars but you can play one through most any amp.

Check out the DiMarzio DP138 and you'll see what I mean. They are about $70 but there are others that are cheaper.

Best Acoustic Guitar for beginners...?

Bobby M

Learning to play the guitar is something that I've secretly wanted to do for a while now. I finally decided to get one, however I'm a bit skint at the moment. I picked one out from Argos, here's the address...

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0660691/Trail/searchtext%3EGUITAR.htm

I know Argos is obviously not the best place to buy an instrument but like I said... skint. I was just wondering if it would be the right kind of guitar for a beginner? It's an Electric Acoustic guitar, should I go with just a regular acoustic guitar or would it really make a difference? Do they sound the same, only one can be used with an amp? Does it NEED the amp? Obviously I'm not the best when it comes to instruments, this is all new to me.

Also, if buying one from Argos is a complete waste of money, does anyone know where I could get a better guitar for around £100 in the Cardiff area. Any music shops or guitars suggested would be much appreciated, thanks.

Answer
It doesn't seem a very high quality for the price you are paying, but it is allot better to look and touch and feel the guitar that you want to buy and start out with.

My "beginner" guitar was an Alverez, and it cost 975.00 USD. It was very easy to learn on. The best guitars for you to learn with are the ones where the bridge is relatively close to the neck. Meaning that the strings are closer to the frets (the metal bars that run down the length of the neck of the guitar). This will make it VERY easy to push down on them, and you can learn more longer, with out your fingers getting fatigued. THEY WILL GET FATIGUED THOUGH!!! You will have to get used to it and enjoy the music that you learn how to play each day.

Acoustic Guitar Beginner?

Q. I should hopefully be getting an acoustic guitar for christmas, and was hoping i could try and teach myself how to play. I was just wondering how hard it is, and how long it takes to learn, so that you are able to play decently?
& in case any cares, i should be getting this one: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5400674/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+entertainment+and+sat+nav%7C10199181.htm
It comes with a tutorial DVD, so i suppose that is a bonus.

Answer
I would just say if you play because you
love music get a nylon string model. Steel string is very very strict.
You would have to play over equipment and have intentions to play
for regular bands or studies to learn on a steel string, it just is
that different from great pop or rock, classical or ballad guitars.
That are usually nylon by the way. My first guitar was a 40 dollar
nylon from a small shop like a betencourt. The good news is if
you love music the guitar is the best instrument by far. Next show
I am in santana, zeppelin, beatles, bsb, or steve miller stop up and
see reality. We are regular musicians that write through relaxation
meditation, all those skills you learn to hone. Pass code is sold
yamaha, my time 006. For time factor, set sites on 2 years to get
proficient to amuse your peers. 4 years to get out with own style.
2 hours a day is okay for mastering guitars. Jazz local work helps
to get into full reading of music. College course in independent
music jobs skills. You can learn basics with that after 6 months
practical home level. Go for 12 hours a week and definitely learn to read, practice on basic old country club favorites.Next summer enroll would work.
