JD :)
Hi.
So i know what the notes are, and the bars, and the clefs, and the time signatures and everything and i know how to read tabs already.
I've been playing violin for 7 years, so i know what the stuff means.
But ive been learning guitar, and i got a book of sheet music today.
Its for vocals, piano and guitar.
So its got there bar lines in a box thing.
I think the top if for guitar, and then the middle line is piano and the bottom line is bass notes for the piano. Because the middle line and bottom line have a { at the start and a } at the end.
So ovbiosly there together.
So on the top line, its got all these notes and then it has like a little guitar tab ontop of it. But these small tabs are just in all kinds of different spots.
And i dont understand it.
Lets just say, the first bar has a tab ontop on it, and then the next tab is like 5 bars away. You cant play the first tab for 5 bars, because on the score, like the notes on the bars are changing. So doesnt that mean u have to change chords?
I really need help, i know this probably sounds so confuesing, but i need help!
thanks :)

Hello,
I have learned some simple chords and looked at a few songs, but, sadly, I'm confused.
As I've been looking at the guitar tablature and chords, I began wondering what determines how FAST or SLOW you play the song. It's not like with the flute (which I played for the last few years) where you have half notes or quarter notes, that tell you how fast to play it. How is it with the guitar?
Thanks in advance!
Answer
You should learn to read real guitar sheet music. It has actual notes on it, say A or C, etc.. Tablature doesn't have how fast or slow the song should be. It's basically just the cheaters way into playing the guitar (if they know the song already it's easy just to put the notes into the rhythm).
