Need help choosing the right electric guitar.Your advice and suggestions would be much appreciated. THANKS?
Q. well..i've recently been saving up for a new electric (my budget is approx$500) ive been an acoustic player for around a year and like to make a switch. Over the past few weeks ive been heavily influenced by metal. i was wondering if anyone could give me some electric guitar suggestions, good brands, what to look for, other little gadgets, good AMPs and stuff like that. Maybe even recommend a store
(i live in Australia, melbourne VIC) if that helps
Your suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated Thanks..

If you need an amplifier and a guitar for $500, my advice is to wait, save another $500 to $1,000 for a total of $1,000 to $1,500 and then shop around for something. Right now, your budget will only allow you to buy a guitar and amplifier that you will not be happy with for very long. Why? The guitar will have cheap hardware and pickups on it that won't stay in tune well and will not sound that good and the cheaper guitars will often not play very well and are harder to adjust. That equipment will not have a good resale value either so, you won't get your money back out if when you decide to trade up.
If you just can't wait and have to have something now, then spend no more than $200 for the guitar because the Amp is going to cast at least $300. A cheaper amp falls into the practice amp category and is only good for playing in your bedroom. You want an amp that you can actually practice with a band and perhaps even play somewhere with.
A somewhat decent $200 guitar is the NEW Ibanez ART 120. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=9&sqi=2&ved=0CDQQtwIwCA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DuuLTzyAM_BY&rct=j&q=Ibanez%20ART120&ei=Gd_OTPPXLsH6lweSkonlCA&usg=AFQjCNHeHn8rx20qM0fpUBrNA8BUlvnp4w&cad=rja
And, for around $300, there are only two amplifiers worth considering that that is the Fender Frontman 212R - http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Frontman-212R-100W-2x12-Guitar-Combo-Amp?sku=481601 - and the Line 6 Spider IV - http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Line-6-Spider-IV-75-75W-1x12-Guitar-Combo-Amp?sku=620210
