best acoustic guitar for 7 year old image
shannon
Its a 4/4 classical acoustic guitar thats around 7 years old, good condition... just wondering if anyone had any idea what would be a reasonable asking price? Off to uni this september and looking to sell a few things off. Thanks :)
Answer
Sells new in perfect condition for about 150 pounds.
7 years old, good condition, no warranty. Ask 75 and know what the minimum you will take. Be ready to come down.
If you are not using it, sell it or give it away. It will not get more valuable.

How should I teach a kid the guitar?
DR
I had a parent ask me if I can teach her son the guitar (5-7 years old at a guess, owns an acoustic, does only 20 minute lessons at school, parent says he would like to learn pop and rock) where would be a good place to start? I've only ever taught myself and I don't wanna make it seem too easy, too advanced or too boring (for example playing nursery rhymes) some song suggestions would be good too since I don't follow much modern rock/pop
Answer
He sounds a little young, but if he's doing it at school then maybe he's able to get some sound out of it. I taught guitar to kids for years, and the first thing to do is TALK to him. Ask what songs he wants to play and find out what he can do already. Of course his choices will be much too hard, but you might be able to find SOMETHING with only a couple of chords that he can learn quickly and "fantasy play" when he's practicing. ;-) You need to start with easy chords (D, A, E Em Am) and also start a bit of articulation with easy runs.
