comma,

Details:

- I'm a beginner, like i only know a few chords. However, I have been playing the piano for around 10years so i am experienced in music and music reading (including tabs, easy to read)

- Acoustic guitar i prefer

- I am left handed, but i prefer playing it right handed

- Looking for something relatively cheap, since i am buying it with my own money. I'm thinking 200-400 dollars

- I live in Sydney Australia and prefer something I can buy here. Any good stores? Also, please state the guitar price in terms of australian dollars, and how much it costs IN australia (usually more expensive than in say america)

Mind, i don't know ANYTHING about guitars. But i researched, is the Yamaha FG700S any good?

TY!!

Answer
yes. my first guitar was like a 100 dollar yamaha. and yes, that yamaha fg 700s looks like a good guitar. its a dreadnought. kinda big but produces really nice sound.

i mean yea, the reviews there are saying that its really good.

Which guitar to get? Worth the price difference?

I'm having difficulty deciding between two guitars,
this : http://bavasmusic.com.au/store/takamine-ted51c-p-1888.html

and this:http://bavasmusic.com.au/store/takamine-ted50sc-p-1886.html

As you can see, the 50SC is a solid top, so it's probably a better one. However, it's also at least a 100$ more expensive. The prices advertised there are also significantly lower than other shops, and that shop is about an hour and a half away from where I live, and I don't know if they even will sell it to me at that price.

It's probably going to be around 100$ more than my original budget of 350$. Should I settle for the cheaper one? Or should I suck it up, and spend loads on the solid top?

Also, with an electric-acoustic guitar, what accessories should I get to go along with it? Do they supply the cable with guitar? Do shops usually throw in straps etc with the purchase if you ask for a discount?

I live in Sydney, so if you have any suggestions about where to go it would be helpful as well.

Thanks for answering =)

Answer
Personally, I'd get the best guitar I could afford. If the extra $100 isn't a big deal then go for it. You'll be rewarded in the long run.

Electric/acoustic is a must for me. If you ever plan on playing live, it will make things much easier.

Some shops will throw in extras here in the States --- some won't. It doesn't hurt to ask though.

You may eventually want an amp, I have a Marshall 50 watt acoustic amp...it's great. But you won't need one right away if you're just starting out.
