best acoustic guitars for under 200 image
Me ^.^
I don't know much about guitars, but I want a pretty, acoustic guitar for under £200-£300.
Answer
The brand isn't really that important. The most important part is that you find a guitar with a decent build quality and good set up - an instrument which speaks to you and that you want to pick up and play often :-)
If you go to the nearest well equipped store, you'll find people willing to show you the various models in your price bracket. Try the guitars for yourself, bring along a friend who plays, or have someone at the store play them for you.
You definitely want a guitar with an all wood (solid) top, since this is the most important part of the guitar as far as sound goes.
Some folks incorrectly claim a nylon string guitar is easier to play. Even though the strings are somewhat softer on your fingers, the neck is wider and the action (string height) is higher on a classical/nylon string guitar. A well adjusted steel string guitar with a good set up (very important!), light strings and a neck which isn't bulky is usually a dream to play.
If someone attempts to sell you a nylon string guitar "because these are easier for a beginner", these folks even don't know how to adjust a steel string, don't want to do adjustments, has some hidden agendas - or haven't got a clue what they're talking about.
A steel string guitar is more versatile unless you plan only to play classical music, some styles of jazz and perhaps some singer/songwriter stuff.
Make sure you get the store to set the guitar up for you with new strings. If they want your business, they should do this for free, or at least very cheap.
Although there are many to choose from, a couple of good brands to begin with is Yamaha, Ibanez or Jasmin by Takamine. These all tend to give you great value for the money, good necks and decent build quality. Epiphone is another good beginner brand. However, these tend to have rather big, bulky necks.
Good luck with you playing :-)

What is a good acoustic guitar for under £175?
Will
I'm looking for an acoustic guitar for under £175. It would be preferable if the guitar had a thin neck as I've been playing electric guitar for a few years which had a thin neck. I might go a little over £175 if there is a guitar you strongly recommend for £200- £225.
p.s. I'm left handed. Thanks

You could just go.with anoyone that you like the looks of - you won't notice much of a difference with guitars in that price range.
