You will find lots of useful guitar lessons and information here - it works on an "honour system". If you can afford to pay for the lessons then please donate for what you use - imagine it was a pay site. If you can't afford to donate it is no problem at all - the site is free for you :). Updates and new material is pretty much donation dependant. Donations give me more time away from paid work to develop this site andThese songs are kinda simplified versions of the propers songs to give you some cool stuff to play while you are starting out. They will sound good strummed and help you get a grip of your chord shapes and something to play at your next BBQ :) All these have a pdf chord lyric sheet.

Hello there,
You are fortunate in that there are a lot of good materials available on line these days to help you learn to play. Back in the early 60s when I learned, there was so little material available (and on line did not exist).
To your question about A7 chord. A minor 7th is added to the major triad. Here is an explantion of this. In case the link does not work it is a lesson called abbreviations used with chord symbols by Andy McLeod.

By the way, Whole Note has a lot of good materials in their lessons section.
Here is something you may find useful. A chord chart to show you fingerings for various chords. This is worth printing out. There are several pages to it, you may want to save the PDF files and print them as you use them.

Here is lesson at Whole Note about chord construction. You may find it useful. In case the link does not work the lesson is called how to construct basic chords by Christopher Sung.

Lastly, here is a link to some video lessons at Youtube. This guy has a series of 12 lessons there. They are targeted at electric guitar beginners and cover the basics very well. Even if you play an acoustic, there is some good information you could pick up.
