acoustic guitar lessons for beginners on youtube image

I play the clarinet & some piano, but recently I started taking an interest in the guitar. I'm 15 & i feel I'm already too old to learn how to play because I won't be really good at it until I'm about 17-18. I have an electric guitar at home that my dad got for xmas but he never got the chance to learn it, so now I might use that? But don't I have to start with the acoustic guitar? After all I think that's the one I want to learn but aren't they both the same notes/technique anyway?
Is the guitar hard? When I tried to play on the electric, I found it hard for my fingers to reach all the notes! I don't have enough money for lessons so are there any good websites/YouTube channels that have guitar tutorials for beginners?
How long do you think it will take me to be good at the guitar (good as in able to play songs, etc) if I practice a good amount each week? Any tips on anything with the guitar would be helpful! Thanks!:)

Well, since you have a background in playing music, you're already off to a huge headstart. Not knowing theory behind playing hinders a lot of guitar players, especially when it comes to writing songs. And regarding your age, 15 is a great place to begin, because your fingers are now long enough to reach full chords properly, plus you're mature enough now to know that it takes solid dedication to get good at an instrument.
Depending on what style songs you want to play, i would say choose either. Acoustic is more challenging at first because the notes are harder to fret, and your fingers will initially hurt more than they would on an electric. Having said that, they are largely speaking identical (note positions etc.), and you can easily switch instruments with no ramifications.
"Difficulty" is relative to what you want to play
-if you want to learn, say, Holy Wars by Megadeth, then yes, it will be very difficult
-if you want to learn some Taylor Swift songs, it should be very very easy (few months at most)
If you practise for a few hours every week, you'll easily be a competent player within a year.
I hope this helped, and here is the greatest guy for beginning guitarists on the net, he does acoustic and electric vids check it out ^_^

Anyway, good luck, it's such an amazing instrument and you'll be playing for life if you begin :)

What are some easy, but fun, guitar tabs for the acoustic guitar?
Q. I'm a beginner at the guitar, but I know how to read tabs. Do you know any easy tabs I can play on the acoustic guitar?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Answer
Hey There!
Well to begin with you want to be learning to play small riffs, or the basic chords to a song so you can play along with it.
For example when I began playing I learnt to read tab and then searched all the basic guitar chords (A,B,C,D,E,F,G & Am,Bm,Cm,Dm,Em,Fm,Gm) "m means minor". Once I had learnt these I began playing small songs such as the "james bond" riff.. Or something like (Smoke on the water - deep purple)
All of these tabs can be easily found on the following websites:
www.ultimate-guitar.com
www.guitaretab.com/
www.guitarzone.com/
www.911tabs.com/
PS you may also want to watch some video lessons on YouTube.com.
Hope this helps yah!
