What is a good acoustic guitar for a self taught intermediate player?

I'm looking to get a new guitar because, well mine sucks, but I don't really know much about them. I don't really wanna spend over $500. I am all self taught and by no means a great guitarist, just happily proficient. I play at my church, so chords are the only thing really necessary.
Any suggestions would be super helpful:)

Go to your local music store. There are many options available to you there. The Ibanez line has many great models for under $500 new. Many female players like Ibanez because they are known for their slim fast neck, which is a plus for those with smaller hands. Epiphone and Yamaha also have excellent guitars in your price range.

You may wish to consider purchasing a used guitar. For your budget, you could get a much better guitar. For your budget, you could possibly get a Gibson, Martin, Washburn or even a lower end Taylor. The best way to find the best guitar for you is just to go to the local music store and play every guitar, new and used, that fits your budget. You will know the right one when you play it.

decent acoustic guitar for $200 (intermediate player)?

I'm sorta an intermediate player. I had a fender electric-acoustic but it got stolen and with the insurance money i just bought a full electric (yamaha pacifica) but i miss the sound of acoustic guitars and i'm going camping soon and would like to take an acoustic guitar for around the campfire. so yeah, whats a nice sounding acoustic guitar that doesn't fall to pieces or get out of tune too easily for 200 dollars or less?

go to a music store and just try them out. all guitars need to be checked out first regardless of brand. look for something with as much solid wood as possible, check the frets for buzzes everywhere. Then play all the strings individually at the 12th fret harmonic (if you don't know how, look it up on youtube, its not hard) then compare that to pressing down the 12th fret and playing. if they are out of tune with each other, move on cause the guitar will never tune right. Putting in the extra effort to shop around and find one you like is worth it.

I am an intermediate guitar player and love electro acoustic guitars such as the Takamine EG450, the Yamaha FX370c and the Takamine EG340SC, however these guitars i find to be a bit pricey. Does anyone know any places to find these brilliant guitar (electro acoustic) but a bit cheaper? preferably near the UK.

Pawn shops are and can be a good place to look. If you find something that you're interested in, find out the price, then make an offer that's about twenty percent below what they are asking. If they want to turn it over quick they'll either sell it at that price, or come back with a lower price. Then counter their new price, and hopefully they will come down, so you can get it lower price. If they won't budge on the price then head for the door. Pawn shops generally take in items at about fourty to sixty percent of what the actual value is. So you might be able to bargain them down some, get what you want at a better price than what you would pay, to buy it used from an instrument shop.

Be firm though when making the offer and frown a bit, if they come back with no change, and then critique the guitar about various things. If you have a friend that plays and knows something about guitars get them to come along to look it over and tell you what the condition is in their opinion. Most pawnshops when something comes off of pawn want to turn the item over as quickly as possible, so as to reduce the overhead, for the time they have to keep it and their money tied up.

Q. I wouldn't call myself a beginner or intermediate player, I'm in between both. I've had my guitar for about 4 years but haven't been really been driven to play, but I've regained my passion and I wanted to know if this song can be played on the acoustic guitar, its sucks my electric guitar is broke >.>

Yep...I played it a couple of weeks ago at an acoustic show I did. It wasn't note-for-note the Hendrix version...probably closer to a version that Dave Mason (who played the acoustic intro on Hendrix's version) did.

But, yeah...why wouldn't you be able to. I've always viewed acoustic versions of electric songs just another arrangement.

What's a great 12 string acoustic guitar for the Money?

I'm an intermediate player and my next guitar may hopefully be a 12 string ACOUSTIC guitar. I'm looking for a price range from about 300.00 to 600. And it'd be nice if it was at a local store such as guitar center.

Guitar Center usually has a selection of new and used 12 string guitars. they also keep a list of what other Guitar Center stores have. I bought a used Breedlove from Buffalo Brothers it is the most stable guitar I have ever owned. I am not real happy with my Gibson or my Tak.
