how much does an acoustic guitar cost?

i want to learn how to play, but im worried about the cost. could you give me an average price? or how much your acoustic guitar cost? thanks

The cheapest I'd recommend would be about $100 for a Takamine Jasmine or Epiphone DR-100. Any guitar at that price will be all laminate (plywood), which has a more dull and muted sound than a guitar with a solid spruce top. I really like the Yamaha FG700S at $199. That guitar has a solid spruce top and sounds great for the price. It is also a well made guitar that is easy to play, stays in tune well, and should last you a while as you learn to play better.

Obviously you can spend thousands of dollars on a great guitar, but for a beginner I'd say you'd pay around $200 for a good quality guitar, about $100 for a passable guitar to start learning on, and anything less than $100 you'll be very quickly disappointed with.

FWIW, I have a very nice Guild D4NT acoustic guitar which I paid $650 for about 15 years ago (back when they were still making them in the US before Fender bought Guild). I'm currently saving up to get a Taylor 314ce which will be around $1500. I also have a nice Parker electric guitar I paid around $800 for on Ebay. I've been playing guitar for 40 years and am the worship leader at my church, so I play every Sunday. My first decent acoustic guitar though was a $100 Epiphone back when I was about 9 years old, but compared to the Guild I have now it was a bear to play and I would never play on that quality of guitar again at this point.

I recommend an Acoustic depending on how much you wanna pay Id recommend a Martin and Company they can price anywhere from 600-1500+ dollars. They have one of the best sounds Ive ever heard, also Ovation guitars they price anywhere from 800-3000 dollars. Sounds step but you would never have to worry about buying another acoustic. If you don't like the price you can look at Ibanez about 150- 300 dollars. With Electric guitars I highly recommend Ibanez RG series guitars 300-600 dollars and Gibson Les Paul 1500+ dollars. Whats the best acoustic guitar i can get for 500 dollars?

Are you looking for a nylon stringed classical guitar, or a steel stringed? What kind of stuff are you gonna play, country? rock? blues? jazz?

A great overall choice is Taylor. You should be able to find a good one on sale for $500. Martin is another great choice. I've got a couple of Ovations but I hardly use them anymore because they just don't have a rich enough tone for me. Actually, my favorite guitar right now is my Ibanez Steve Vai Euphoria EP9 which usually retails around $1500 but I got mine for $600. You can see a picture of my actual guitar at this site:

So, here's what I'd look for...Taylor, Martin, Takamine (yeah, they sound pretty good usually), Ibanez. There are lots of others, of course. Just find one that feels and sounds good to you.

i want to buy a new guitar. im relatively inexperienced in playing but i practice every night and im definately getting better every day. right now i own a fender jaguar- which im not crazy about and then i have a gibson les paul standard- which i absolutely love.
i want to get an acoustic guitar or an acoustic electric but i dont really know that much about the brands and what a good quality guitar would be. money is not really an issue for me. im lookin in the 1500-2500 dollar range. i dont plan on ever performing so i dont need a real big loud one but i do want something that would give a good contrast to the ones i already own.

If you aren't going to perform, then you don't need an acoustic electric. Go to a good store and start with a Martin D28 or D18 - that's what they all imitate. Then play Taylors, Gibsons, Alvarez, Guild, Takamine, and Breedlove.
Now, if you aren't near any good stores it's harder. Go to www.elderly.com and look around in your price range - any of the above brands are good. Elderly does a full set-up before thry ship anything. If you don't like the guitar you can return it without any hassle. If it were me, I'd go with a Martin D28 or the Taylor GS8.

High, i am recently looking to purchase an acoustic guitar, but I am not sure which one to get. Can you help me decide (anywhere from 1500 dollars and under is goof)

Yes, Martin Taylor and Larrivee are all decent guitars. A couple of years ago, I was shopping for an acoustic in this price range. I was convinced I wanted a Taylor until I tried one side by side with a Martin D-16RGT. From that point on, I was a Martin convert. You may want to check out the Epiphone Masterbuilt series, they're pretty impressive for under $700.

You'll need to let your ear be the judge.....everybody has different taste. Before you buy, be sure to try both Taylor and Martin.....several models if you can. All of them are great guitars.

BTW, I ended up getting a real good deal on a Martin D-35

Are there any acoustic guitars of any brand which have similar sound to the gibson hummingbird?

i want a really nice deep trebly bass but i also want mids and highs. tinny is a no no as well as anything small that doesnt project. i've been looking at some guilds but so far its hard to find sound tests on each one. any insight is appreciated. once again i'm looking for a guitar which sounds comparable to the gibson hummingbird but at a lower price. preferably under 1500 dollars. thanks.

A fender would do ok. Also you can find a good custom build one for about a grand that is equivalent to one 3 or 4 times the cost at CHW Guitars Custom Shop. Their lowest line being 600 dollars for an electric and 1100 for acoustic, great guitars that outplay any ive ever played.

well my best friend and I want to start a band but we both have to take lessons first. she already has her electric and i have want to play the bass. i already have an old acoustic. but which is harder to learn? and would there be a price diffrence?

I don't play either....I play classical guitar....and acoustic...but I would imagine that the bass is harder...especially if your a girl...those strings are so fat !!!!! I think electric would be easier....or course you have two more strings to learn....why don't you go to the Guitar Center and hang out and play around with both of them....they even have private little rooms where you can go if you don't like playing in front of people....I wouldn't buy either until you play around for a while and see which you find easier.....you could even buy one and bring it home and play it for a month...Guitar Center is very good with that. I bought a classical guitar that I payed $1500.00 - $1600.00 dollars for and after I had it home for a while there was something about the sound that I didn't like....They had no problem taking it back....I got another one for half the price and liked that one a lot better...so it isn't always the price...for me it's the action and the sound.and everyone has a different action and sound that they like....so try both and go from there !!
