I'll spend up to 1,000 dollars. I want an acoustic guitar with good sound, made out of good quality material. It can either be a plain acoustic or electric acoustic. The range of music I play will vary from classical to rock.

Answer
As far as acoustics go, I personally prefer anything Takamine, specifically their Jasmine. It has a wonderful sound which I have gotten many compliments on, and I play all styles of songs on it.

What's the diffrence between the gibson dove guitar and the epiphone dove guitar? And which one should I buy?

Mus8icMon3

So Im wanting to buy to dove guitar but I'm
confused on which one to buy. There's the epiphone dove acoustic guitar and the gibson dove modern classic dreadnought acoustic-electric. Do they sell the dove that says Gibson on the head but lower than 1,000. Thanks!

Answer
Gibson guitar is acoustic-electric, which means you can play it on an amp, while the Epiphone is just acoustic. Epiphone is Gibson's lower label brand, which means most Epiphone guitars are clones of Gibsons with various changes that make it cost hundreds and thousands lower. If you want to play acoustically by yourself, then the Epiphone is a great choice because it's a nice guitar from a trusted brand, but if you want to play with an amp, look elsewhere. The thousands the Gibson one costs is preposterous compared to other acoustic-electrically.

Quite honestly, it's hard to find a Gibson guitar for 1000 and you definitely aren't getting a Gibson dove for under that price.

I am looking to buy a decent starter acoustic guitar under $200. I know there's not a lot to choose from in my price range, but right now I just can't afford to spend $1,000+ on a Taylor or Martin. What will give me the most bang for my buck? Any recommendations?

Answer
Epiphone has the DR-100 which is a very good starter guitar. You can buy it in most places for $129. Musician's Friend has it on sale right now for $99. Ibanez also has some decent beginner guitars in your price range.

How much should my first guitar cost?

Ocean_Mist

How much should I spend on my first acoustic guitar? Im a complete beginner by the way. How much did you spend on your first guitar?

Answer
My first guitar I think cost around $100 and was a nylon string acoustic. Second cost around $1,000 and was a steel string acoustic, third was an electric and against cost around $1,000.

The general rules are shop at a local music store and have a play. Get advice from a guitar teacher or a friend who plays guitar and who knows you and your budget. Buy the most expensive guitar you can afford with your budget. If you buy cheap, you buy twice.

If you're just dabbling, buy an inexpensive nylon string guitar to begin with. Even if you're sure you want to pursue guitar, they're gentler on the fingers and a perfect beginner's guitar.
