What are some fun songs to play on an acoustic guitar?

Stevie K.

I've got some free time and my guitar. I'm getting a bit bored with my played-out play-list. Any Suggestions.

Answer
Personally one of my favorite acoustic artists is Jack Johnson. A lot of his songs are really fun to play on the guitar, and some can be pretty complicated. In my opinion his best guitar work was on the album Brushfire Fairytales, and on that album, the song "Inaudible Melodies" is one of my favorite songs to play on the acoustic guitar

"Never Know" off one of his other albums is fun and complex too.

What are some great acoustic guitar songs to play?

Q. Lately me and my aunt have been jamming now and then with our guitars, and she's just now learning so she's still a beginner. I've been playing for two years now. I want to find some tabs for some great acoustic songs for us to play that will be easy for her and still fun for me. Know any really awesome songs we could try? Links to tabs and stuff would be awesome.

Answer
I´d say there are many awesome songs for acoustic guitar. Personally, i´d choose Classical Gas from Eric Clapton, Dust in the Wind from Kansas, I´m Yours from Jason Mraz, Your Body Is A Wonderland from John Mayer, Paradise City from Guns ´n´ Roses, and many songs from Jack Johnson are very good for acoustic guitar like "Flake". In Spanish, cause that´s my native language, I´d choose, La Flaca from Jarabe de Palo.

What are some extremely easy songs to play on acoustic guitar?

Kristen H

I am a beginner and would love to play a real, like music-y song [instead of yankee doodle & ode to joy]. I really enjoy country music [Taylor Swift to be precise] and would love to find a song I'd be able to play. Any suggestions?

Hello there,

I understand where you are coming from, we all had to learn sometime. Seems like a better way to learn would be to learn a solid understanding of the basics. Then pick out the songs you like and tackle those. What you learned studying the basics will take you a long way towards mastering most songs. I never liked the idea of learning a song I did not like just because it was easy. Sort of ran against my sense of self esteem. I know, you have to start with something and playing songs seems like a good way to learn. Actually it is a good way to practice what you are learning, but not to learn alone. If you follow me.

Take a look at this series of video lessons at Youtube. This guy has a series of 12 lessons. He is a good teacher, enjoyable to watch (even for an old guy) and he does a good job of covering the basics. He uses an electric guitar, but most of this information transfers well to the acoustic. Since you have an interest in country, pay special attention to the parts about finger picking. That is an important technique in country music.

After you have worked your way through some of those lessons, try tackling some of the songs you actually like and want to play. It may take a while to master them, so be patient. But by following this approach you will become a better guitarist faster than just by learning a few easy songs.

When you are ready to tackle some of songs you like, google the name of the song and the word tab. You will see who have has the tabs available online for that song. Places like 911 tabs, Ultimate Tabs, Tab Crawler and the like can provide you with a great many tabs.

Also, since you mention Taylor Swift, try this link.

While you are at Youtube search Taylor Swift guitar lesson and you will bring up quite a few other song lessons you may be interested in.

What are some good acoustic guitar songs to play and be able to sing?

I'm starting to play acoustic guitar more and more and was trying to think of good songs to cover. It doesnt really matter how hard it is, ill learn it either way. I prefer it be a more modern song though, it could be a funny song to do ( i've wrote a cover to lady gaga's just dance) so whatever works.

I also dont have the wide of a singing voice. something simple in the singing range would be very helpful.
Also would like it to be a song that many people would know. I play show's at Starbucks and when people really know the song it makes it better..

Some nice acoustic songs that I like to play are:

Hotel Yorba - The White Stripes
We're Going To Be Friends - The White Stripes
The Rose March - The Smashing Pumpkins (you need a capo though)
Disarm - The Smashing Pumpkins
Superman's Dead - Our Lady Peace
Wonderwall - Oasis
Mr. Tambourine Man - Bob Dylan
The Time's Are-A-Changin' - Bob Dylan
Hurt - Johnny Cash
Kissing Families - Silversun Pickups

Those are just some suggestions. Look into The Smashing Pumpkins and The White Stripes, both have some really nice acoustic songs. Whatever floats your boat though really :)

what is a fun song to play on acoustic guitar?

Q. or whats your favorite acoustic song to play or listen to?

Answer
Any song you like is fun to play on acoustic guitar. I probably know a few hundred of them. I am worship leader at my church and play acoustic guitar and sing. I love those kinds of songs, but I'm not sure what you're into. I also like a lot of the classic rock songs like Tears In Heaven (Eric Clapton), Stairway to Heaven (Zeppelin), and a lot of the old Beatles songs. Here Comes the Sun is a pretty good one for acoustic guitar. James Taylor is a great option for acoustic guitar as well. Sometimes it's fun to just do some bluesy jams on the acoustic too. Sometimes I'll throw it in DADGAD tuning and do some Irish folk stuff. It's all good (and fun).

If you want to try something new, put your guitar in DADGAD tuning and just finger pick the open strings and just use the two highest strings (B & E tuned to A & D) to work out some nice melodies (the other 4 strings just kind of drone while you play the melody on the 2 highest strings). It's kind of fun to just mess around with.
