Where can I buy a cheap Acoustic Guitar (UK)?

seabass

I want to buy an acoustic guitar for a music project I'm doing at school (and I'd like to play anyway). I don't want an expensive one at all, just a second hand one like under £30. Any one got any websites/shops I could look at? Thanks :)

Answer
There may be one available from a member of the LETS network in your community. You can buy it for cash or trade for something of equal value. The Local Exchange Trade System is personal and can be a lot of fun to join and participate.

Good luck.

Where can I get a cheap electric acoustic guitar ??

Anonamiss

My paper round moneys just come through and at the minute I'v got about £130, and I'm dying for an electric acoustic!! I mean you can only strum a normal acoustic so loud before I'll be paying for new strings.... help ?? x
And no-no pawn shops here :(
Yes... looks like e-bay it is :)

Answer
I'd avoid a pawn shop, their mark up is terrible. Go to a music store and see if they have free street press & music papers. They sometimes have a 'trading post' section with people selling privately. I don't know where you live but a lot of towns have weekend advert liftouts too. This is best place to get a potential bargain...
I'd also avoid Ebay...you want to play the thing before you buy it. It might look great but sound terrible.

Q. What I would like is a Acoustic Guitar , 6 String
What is the cheapest I can get this in the UK? It dosen't have to be great quality just the absaloute CHEAPEST!!!!!
Thankyou (:

Answer
go to a pawn shop, because you'll find guitars that are really good, but people couldn't afford to keep them. they are also really cheap there, and you'll be happier than if you buy a cheaply made knock off somewhere. look at the whole guitar, check that the neck isn't broken, strum it a little, make sure it sounds decent. if the neck isn't straight don't get it. you'll probably need to get it re-strung at your local music store. i would recommend elixer strings, they are like 13$ US, i dunno how much they would be in the UK. have fun! guitars are the best

What is the cheapest way to record these instruments to have ok quality?

elmarroafa

i record my friends, one plays the accordion he sings, another an acoustic guitar with a little amp, the other an upright bass, and i just put my MacBook and record them with the built in mic and the quality is not great , no real bass, kinda distorted (background noise since its a built in mic)
so i was wondering what was the best way to record them a little better ??? with bass and everything clean sound???
i heard there is like this little mixer that has like a 3 or 4 inputs ???is that possible and is it even possible to connect all instruements to the MacBook and then record them using some kinda program for the MAC ? ? ?

THanks in Advance!

Answer
On the home demo making process (including mixers), see:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/onemusic/recording/

And, do you use Apple GarageBand?

That should do the job. Even professional musicians have used it to cut home demos.

How much should I pay for a decent acoustic guitar?

I am a beginner. I've got almost no experience. I would like to learn chords and pretty much cover songs. Mostly Foo fighters and other rock songs, until I eventually learn chords and write my own songs. But for now I want a decent acoustic guitar. If you could give me the price and a link or tell me where can I buy it that would be great.

Answer
If your looking just for a decent one, but nothing special (reliable, durable, ok sounding) then I'd go for a Tanglewood. http://www.tanglewoodguitars.co.uk/products/acoustic/evo_exotic/evolution/TW28.html It's just short of £200 but you could probably get it cheaper in a store like Thomann.
If you don't want to spend that much money, then take a look at this one. http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_squier_sa105_bk.htm
I can't guarantee that the sound is that good (Fenders are only really good when they're over £/$/⬠700..

I can't work out what size it is... it looks pretty big? Why do you think it is so cheap?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-DG11-Acoustic-Guitar_W0QQitemZ150427990301QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item230634f91d or this one?

Answer
Should be fine for a beginner, looks to be a full size, but you can ask the seller a question if you go to his sight again and find out for sure, as to why it's so cheap, who knows. sometimes a dealer will buy a bunch of them at a reduced price from the manufacture and sell them cheap.

Best home music recording microphone for computers?

Chris

Ok, so I'm looking to buy a decent quality microphone so I can just record music straight to my computer. Most importantly, acoustic guitar and singing but maybe a bit of electric stuff too involving amps and that. Trouble is, I know nothing about this stuff. I want one that's reasonably cheap and cost effective if it's possible. Any help greatly greatly appreciated. Also, I live in the UK and if possible no ebay answers.

Answer
great and cheap condenser mic, USB.. needs no audio interface
my choice for low budget but professional recording
Samson C01u - less $100, maybe around $70 or $80

alternative
Rode NT1A - $230

great quality
Shure Beta 87 - $250

Popular pick..
Shure Sm57/58 and 58 beta - $100

if you need to record your electric guitar or mic with 1/4" jack or XLR, I think you need audio interface like digidesign mbox, the cheapest one is mbox mini, maybe around $300, that includes a good software Pro Tools, if you can afford grab it, both hardware and software is great

For me, recording thru the sound card of your pc doesn't do very well.. think well before buying equips..

HOPE THIS HELP YOU.. :)
