Good cheap acoustic guitar brands?

Amelia

I am looking to buy a nice guitar. What are some good brands?
I forgot to add:
My BUDGET is $600-700.
I've been playing guitar for 8 years.

Answer
Yep, Eastman is great but a bit over your $700 max for the decent models with all solid wood (Elderly has a used AC-420 for $600, which is on the lower end of their solid wood models). I just recently picked up an all solid wood Martin OMC-1e on Ebay for $700 and it's a great guitar as well. Bedell also makes some nice solid wood guitars in that price range. I've also read some good reviews of Walden guitars but haven't played any of their higher end models and wasn't too impressed with their cheaper ones.

With any acoustic guitar though, you really need to play it and see how you like the sound. I played several in music stores before I bought my Martin on Ebay, and I like the fact that it was made in the US (all the others I mentioned are made in China).

I've been using the same guitar for some while now and have been wanting to upgrade to a new guitar. I'm not a beginner but not and expert either. What guitars would be good for an intermediate player that sound great but is under $250?

Answer
I'd get a Yamaha, one of the models made in the 60s and 70s. Great guitars, much better than the ones they make now. Supposedly the best were the ones made in Japan; they're marked "Nippon Gakki". You can find them on Craigslist and eBay.
There are many models though; you'd have to read up on them before buying.

any great acoustic guitars?

do you know any good acoustic guitars, not the expensive ones but great and long lasting , yet affordable
around 0-400 dollars even 500

Answer
There are no affordable "great" guitars. But Yamaha acoustic guitars are really well built and sound pretty good. And they are affordable. Also Ibanez acoustics are pretty good guitars and fairly cheap.

Acoustic guitars.........?

I really want an acoustic guitar and I found one on craiglist. I just don't know if it's good quality or not. I can't attatch the link right now, but the brand was Huntington and the person was only asking for $70...
I have to buy it myself (I'm 15) and this is perfect for my budget...

Answer
DO NOT BUY A GUITAR U HAVENT PLAYED B4! Test the guitar 1st. I've never heard of Huntington, it might be a beginner guitar in which isnt all that great of a guitar. Also guitars that are marketed as beginner guitars are those w/ poor quality and cheaply made. Personally i hate that cheap-@ss Epiphone guitar pack. It has horrible action and the sound projection is bad.

note: cheap guitars=cheaper quality=bad sound and playability, ultimately u get what u pay for, that simple

I suggest you raise your price range, and look to buy a Yamaha Acoustic Gigmaker Pack which is around $160 this is a perfect starter set w/ everything u need and some, plus the guitar isnt bad at all, which is the better buy

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha-GigMaker-Acoustic-Guitar-Pack-102920113-i1150348.gc

OR

The Fender DG-8S Acoustic Guitar Value Pack which is $199

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-DG-8S-Acoustic-Guitar-Value-Pack-104506415-i1146547.gc

Fender also offers a Squier pack for acoustic, i think but double check though. I dont like it becuase it feel cheap and the sound is...eh

OR

Ibanez IJV50 JamPack Quick Start $99 (the quality on this on is iffy)

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-IJV50-JamPack-Quick-Start-103563631-i1150606.gc

If u dont buy a starter kit stick w/ these brands plus the ones above:
Alvarez, Washburn, Regal, Seagull, and Rogue.

After the guitar all u'll need afterward is a TUNER, a crap-load of PICKS (you'll lose alotta of them), and some BOOK and DVD (extra, but helpful to have a visual aide). The book should have basic music theory, scales, and chords (these are the 3 main pt u need to start getting good at guitar)

note: its better to buy a acoustic (non-acoustic electric), because the pre-amp on the guitar is tied into its price, so if its really cheap, then the quality is super bad. Again I recommend the Yamaha pack, but their are other more expensive packs that have better guitars, but the Yamaha should suffice until u buy a better one later on.

Cheap Acoustic Guitars in NYC?

Nikki D

I'm looking for an classical acoustic guitar under $200. I've never played before so I'm really looking for a beginner guitar that's still good.
I know of the guitar center, but I heard they don't have a great selection of acoustic guitars.
Thanks!

Answer
Heard of guitar center? Acoustic guitars go around for 50 to 500. Since your a beginner i suggest you getting this: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Squier-MC-1-Acoustic-Guitar-101937530-i1175257.gc

Cheap acoustic guitar?

Q. I've been playing guitar for about four years now, so naturally (and you fellow guitar players know how this is,) the itch for me to buy a new guitar is becoming greater and greater. I already have a $400 silvertone acoustic that I LOVE. But I'm thinking for my next guitar I might go for looks instead of sound quaility. I want to buy a cheap acoustic guitar without a finish, and then decorate it myself, with quotes, drawings etc.

Kind of like so:

But anyways, I'm not sure how to go about buying a cheap guitar, or what brand to choose. (Again, the sound quality is not SUPER important, as it won't be my primary guitar)

Suggestions? :) thanks

-L

Answer
i would try pawn shops... there cheap and most of the time they wont have a finish... pick board and are missing strings

What is the most suitable, good, cheap acoustic guitar for beginners who have no experience?

Answer
Take someone with you who is already into playing guitar to help make your choice when shopping for your guitar. Good to try out all the units to compare and find the ones that will fit your present needs when it comes to feel, sound, performance and price range.

Brands are many, even 'low-end' models are good to begin with: Alvarez; Art & Lutherie; Dean; Epiphone; Ibanez; Jasmine(Takamine); Johnson; Lag; Michael Kelly; Seagull; Washburn and Yamaha.

Great adventure to begin with. Welcome to the world of axes.

How can i get rid of the dead notes in my guitar?

nonbelieve

I have a cheaper dean acoustic guitar with a couple dead notes in the higher fret area's, the rest sound great but i was curious how to take care of this when i take it in for repair so i don't sound like a knob

Answer
Just tell the luthier that there are dead notes on the guitar, and show them where.

It's likely a fret that's not level somewhere. But, they're the expert (supposedly). It's up to them to figure it out and fix it!

That said, it's possible that your guitar is just acoustically dead at those notes. That has to do with the type of wood and the bracing used under the top. In that case, it would probably be more expensive to fix that than to just get a better guitar. Keep that in mind.
