Do you know any free, online, easy to understand acoustic guitar lessons for beginners?

Yeah what that said. Thanks!

Answer
There are a bunch out there, but they're often low quality and can be hard to follow. If you want to teach yourself, I would recommend that you pick up this book:

Good Beginner Acoustic Guitar?

Chris R

I'm about to purchase my first guitar. I heard it's best to start out with an acoustic and move to electric from there. I don't want to invest more than $300.00 since I'll probably want to upgrade after a while or in case I find out it's not my thing. So what's a good starter guitar? I heard Carlo Robelli is decent, any thoughts?

Thanks!

Answer
Best advice is to go to the music store and hold and strum all the guitars you can in your range. Buy the one that feels and sounds the best. Hopefully you can get someone who knows how to play to come with you.

One of the best books is Guitar for Dummies. Also there are a bunch of web sites with guitar chords and online tuners. wholenote.com is one that I know. There are supposed to be lessons up on youtube also. Search the answers.

Some good manufactures for starter guitars are Yamaha, Epiphone, and Takamine.

Good luck.

How hard is it to teach yourself guitar?

I want to learn how to play acoustic guitar, but don't really want to have to pay for lessons. I know that teaching yourself is possible, but what is the best way?

Answer
It will depend on your determination. First time you learn guitar you will have difficulties in placing your fingers to form chords, memorizing the chords, struggling with muffled strings' sound, a lot of buzzes, picking the wrong strings / notes, sore fingers, etc. Basically this is all about fingers coordination and memorization. Some beginners quit in the first year or even first month. This situation is very normal and all guitarists should pass this phase before they can enjoy playing their guitars. My advise is never give up.

You will need to learn some basic theory as well in order to teach yourself how to play chords progression. Yes it is possible to teach yourself guitar with the help of online guitar tutorials or guitar books. You can also find some very useful guitar tutorials on YouTube.

Good luck with your guitar lessons.

So I want to buy an acoustic guitar. What things should I buy along with the guitar? (I'm a beginner)

Answer
You'll need a guitar, of course. Also, good additions are a strap, a case, and an electric tuner. Also, you might need some books or sheet music. If you don't want to buy these, you can find lots of free tabs online.
Good luck!

Where can I learn Acoustic Guitar online?

I recently got a guitar and need an online website which teaches beginners how to play. Can you give me a link to the most popular online sites for guitar playing? thanks!

Answer
Youtube is a great site because its full of useful tutorials to teach you guitar. Martyzsongs is a good channel to try because his tutorials are very detailed and clear. If you want to learn tab then try http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/, you can type in any song and it will get you tab for it but I suggest you watch a video tutorial to learn all the strings (E.A.D.G.B.E) and basic chords (A.D.G.E) first. You could also buy a music book or take a lesson from a pro, but I suggest that you don't pay for online tutorials because MOST of the time they aren't that good and with a book or a teacher at least you know that your paying for professional advice. Enjoy! :)
