What to buy : Fender Squier vs Ibanez vs Any other ?

I am a beginner guitar player.I am playing acoustic for like 5 months.I wanted to buy a new electric.I cover bands such as Radiohead,Oasis,Nirvana etc.Not metal really.What entry lever guitar would be best for me.Suggest some guitars if you want.Thanks.

Congratulations on being interested in learning to play and
willing to attend classes on a regular basis. It does take commitment.
My experience (at a college level) with courses for guitar is that the recommended instrument is an acoustic
(No Electric) guitar. - The obvious reason:
You need an amplifier to play it

There are many acoustic guitars - nylon strings and steel strings - available in the market that can be purchase for under $200. They all probably have a laminated-top (better expensive guitars have a "solid" wood top) but they are well
made and are less prone to damage due to temperature changes.
I happen to favor classical (nylon strings) guitars since I like
to play the melody part of the music (vs just chords) and I can read music. In the nylon strings guitar the fingers are used
almost always (no picks). This type of guitar is suitable for
classical,folk and jazz type of music but you can really play any kind you want. The sound from the classical guitars is
"mellower" than the sound from the steel-string guitar.
The nylon strings are also "easier" on your fingers.

The steel-strings guitars (tuned the same way as the nylon
strings) have a narrower neck and fret board. Their body
(acoustic box) is larger is size than the classical type and
therefore the sound also is a bit "louder" and "brighter" (due
to the steel-strings) than the dassical.
This guitar is preferred by players that mostly play chords and
simple strumming. The majority of this players use a "pick"
on this type of guitar. Like the classical you can play anything
on this guitar. Many folk and jazz players also use this type of
instrument.
As far as "brand" I can only speak for the ones I have used.
For under $200. you can get a good instrument from :
Alvarez,Washburn, Yamaha, Takamine (Jasmine) , Woods,
Valencia. There are other good major brands like Taylor,
Gibson, Ibanez, etc. but I have no experience with them and
cannot tell you about "value" on their instrument.
Whatever you do make sure you try playing or "feeling" the
instrument and see if it "fits" you in size as well as comfort.

If you are a small person or have small hands/short fingers
consider an instrument on the smaller scale than 25.6"
Just like shoes - one size does not fit all -
Full size guitars are made with a scale-length of about 25.6"
(650mm) and sometimes this create problems for some players.
A scale-lenght is the string distance from the Nut to tthe Bridge saddle of the guitar)
It has nothing to do with the total size (length) of the guitar.

Guitars are made shorter (7/8, 3/4, 5/8, 1/2) to suit the player. The scale lenght of those instrumants are a bit shorter that the full 4/4 size guitar. Check around the web for sellers
like Musician's Friends for more details on the guitars.
