Answer
You would be surprised the nice quality guitar you can get for $150 (often less!) if you look in the right places. First, skip the music store and the idea of a brand new one. If your local store has a rental dept, see if they will sell rentals. they are often much cheaper then the ones on the wall.

But to really get a great deal, check on Craigslist and your local old fashioned print paper's classifieds under items for sale. Some have a musical instrument section. Also, and this is the best if you can do it, look for estate sales in the paper or auctions. I have found some of the best playing, best sounding, cheapest priced acoustic guitars at these places. These people usually know nothing about the value and just want to get rid it along with the rest of their stuff.

Final note. The thing about acoustic guitars is that price does not always dictate your love of the instrument. You need to play it. If it's comfortable for you, sounds good to you, then buy it! Don't just head for the most expensive one. I have an old Gibson I found at a yard sale for $15 a few years back. It is the one I play almost everyday at home now. I just love the feel and sound of it! I have another one I bought new (Alvarez) that I gig with. I don't like it but it's got the pick ups in it so I use it. Good Luck!

What's the best 3/4 sized acoustic guitar that's in an affordable price range?

Christian

I'm looking for an affordable 3/4 sized acoustic (preferably classical) guitar for a beginner. I've looked into getting a Baby Taylor, but I'm seeing a few mixed reviews. Any guitarists out there that would suggest this guitar or another one for a novice?

Answer
You can check out LUna guitars. They are affordable, original, big sound, and very good action. We tried some at the shop and they sounded big for the size and they are very original.

Here is a link and well worth checking.

As for Taylor. It is a good guitar no doubt but to say it is better than Gibosn J-50 is far fetched and the same when compared to a Martin. Let's be honest. Give what belongs to Caesar. Gibsons and Martin are up there in quality and the fact that we use those names to compare to others proves a point.

Check on e-bay for Taylors at a cheap price. I wonder why their are so many for sale and nobody keeps them ???
