I'm thinking of buying a vintage sunburst model for my husband as a surprise present. I've read that it only weighs about as much a strat? He absolutely hates stratocasters, do they feel anything like a strat? And also I don't want to give him something that will be out dated in a year like the apple products. What else could they do to the guitar that hasn't been done? I mean it has a built it tuner, usb, mono and stereo output, and the manomag acoustic pickup. What else can be done?

First off, buying your husband a guitar is just awesome, there should be more wives like you. Guitars don't really get outdated. Anyone would rather have a 1959 Les Paul than a 2012 Les Paul. The Ultra uses a chambered body rather than a solid body which is why it is lighter. If anything the Ultra has too much technology rather than not enough. Some folks like that and some don't. If this is a guitar your husband has shown an interest in then you should be fine. It won't feel or sound anything like a Strat.
