Rainy days

I play both classical and acoustic guitar, but I'm interested in purchasing a semi-acoustic guitar. I don't have the money to buy anything expensive (read: over about $300) which I know narrows my choices considerably. I'd be willing to buy on Ebay, too.
So what's a good brand that makes semi-acoustic guitars?

Answer
below is a link to what i would do. the instruments are direct pricing, no middle man, but the guitars from these guys usually need to be set up (truss rod tightened, intonation set, etc.).

the first link is for a gibson 335 size guitar for $299 (!)

the second is for a les paul size semi-acoustic for $240 (i know!). browse their site as they also have models with p-90 pickups, plus telecaster-style semi hollows.

epiphone and ibanez both make decent less expensive semi-acoustic (sometimes called semi-hollow, because while they look like a hollow body guitar, there is a center wood block that is hidden under the top that runs the length of the guitar to prevent feedback), but it's hard to find a used one in your price range.

What is the cheapest, best kind of acoustic guitar to buy?

I'm in 8th grade, and Ive been playing the guitar for a couple months now.. Im kinda thinking about pursuing a career as a musician, and I'd like to buy a new guitar with a better sound quality then the one I have..?? what would be the best brand of acoustic guitar to buy?

Answer
The term, "cheapest, best kind of acoustic guitar" seems a contradiction in terms. Some of the less expensive guitars for beginner and intermediate players are Alvarez, Ibanez, Ephiphone, Fender, Yamaha, Takamine, and Regal. This is not an inclusive list, however.

On the other side--the best kinds of acoustic guitars--would be Martin, Taylor, Collings, Gibson, Takamine, Guild, McPherson, and a few others. At the top of the list of brands as the best I would consider the classic Ramirez of Spain, coming in around $50,000 apiece.
