i want a really nice deep trebly bass but i also want mids and highs. tinny is a no no as well as anything small that doesnt project. i've been looking at some guilds but so far its hard to find sound tests on each one. any insight is appreciated. once again i'm looking for a guitar which sounds comparable to the gibson hummingbird but at a lower price. preferably under 1500 dollars. thanks.

I'm looking to buy a high end acoustic, I don't have enough for gibson, so I was thinking martin or taylor? I was really considering a taylor 214ce, can anyone tell me about them? , give me any guitar and your reasons why you think its the best. Thanks! !

Answer
Gibson acoustics are extremely variable in quality and some sound pretty bad. Martin or Taylor would be a good choice, but they sound very different and you haven't said which sound you prefer. A high end guitar is selected by sound and feel, usually after visiting many guitar stores, not by brand or by people's opinions on the web.

If you have the experience to evaluate condition properly, used high end guitars can represent an excellent value.

You might also look at Guild. I haven't played anything they've built since Fender bought them, but the older ones are very high quality American-built instruments (although personally I only care for the M-20 and their 12-strings).
